PRT is done!

Joey and I took part in the 8 week parent program at SARRC. It consisted of 4 lecture sessions and 4 interactive sessions with my son using PRT (pivotal response training). I have to say it helped tremendously. We saw a big difference in Joey after the 1st interactive session. Now that the program is complete, I can honestly say that he is behaving so much better and communicating on a whole new level and I have improved as a parent by being able to understand what I need to do to get more out of Joey.

I highly recommend this program. It is $600 and well worth every dime. Financial assistance is available.

From the Archives of General Psychiatry ~ June issue

"According to a study in the June issue of Archives of General Psychiatry,
An autism diagnosis given to a two-year-old child is likely to hold true when that same child is nine years old.
On the other hand, a diagnosis of PDD-NOS (pervasive development disorder not otherwise specified) in a two-year-old child is more likely to be reclassified as an autism diagnosis or a diagnosis of Asperger’s syndrome or other ASD spectrum disorder. "
